Basic usage

Enter the initial capital, the annual inflation rate and the number of years (1–100) to see how your money loses value over time.

Formula

The real value is calculated as future_value = initial_value × (1 + rate)^years. The relative purchasing power indicates what fraction of the original value your money retains.

Rule of 72

A 3% annual rate halves purchasing power in approximately 24 years (rule of 72: divide 72 by the rate to estimate the years).
